Pain management addresses the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain such that patients can return to a satisfactory, functional lifestyle.
Mississippi Valley Pain Clinic is associated with the surgery center where the procedures used to address pain syndromes are performed on a same day basis. Depending on the type of procedure, some are performed in treatment rooms and others in the operating rooms. The clinic is just down the hallway from where the treatment rooms are located so that patient convenience is maximized.
Your primary care or specialist physician will refer you to the Pain Clinic for a specific procedure which will be done on your first visit with the pain management specialist. Other times the referral will be made for evaluation first which will occur in the office setting and if a procedure is needed, it will be performed at a time other than the first visit.
If you have a problem that has not been evaluated by another physician, that is ok as well and you can request an evaluation by our specialist by calling the Pain Clinic at 563-344-6654.
The Pain Clinic has multiple team members including advanced nurse practitioners who manage chronic pain medication, a psychologist who help patients to master behavioral medicine techniques to minimize pain, and physical therapy associates that help to return de-conditioned bodies to functional activity of daily living.
